The piano is the most basic of the orchestra, having within it all of the pitches which might be played on any other instrument. Any student obtaining a degree in music must have basic piano skills. By understanding fingering, chord progressions, and the music notation for piano, a musician develops a deeper understanding of all aspects of musicality.
